Englewood, Colo. — EchoStar announced that Carl Vogel has returned to the company in a full-time role as vice chairman, and named Michael A. Neuman as the company’s new president and COO.
Vogel, who was EchoStar’s president from 1994 to 1997, had been CEO of Primestar, Star Choice and Charter Communications, and held various executive level positions with Liberty Media Corp. since leaving EchoStar. He was a key member of the executive team that created DISH Network, and had served on EchoStar’s board since May.
In his new role, Vogel will focus on financial and strategic initiatives for the satellite company.
Neuman, who was formerly president of Bell Canada Enterprises subsidiary Bell Mobility., fills a post that had been vacant for more than a year.
Neuman was credited with leading Canada’s top wireless carrier to its most profitable growth in its 19-year history. He was with Bell Mobility for three years and previously served as president of Bell ExpressVu Satellite Television, WorldLinx Telecommunications and Cerberus Canada.
