Friday it is now shipping 2010 models in its step-up XVT LCD TV series.
The series includes the 32- ($699 suggested retail), 37- ($899), 42-
($1,199), 47- ($1,799), and 55-inch ($2,199) screen sizes and all feature 1080p
HD resolution and LED backlighting.
The 42-, 47- and 55-inch sets feature 240Hz refresh rates and
full array LED backlighting system with local dimming, which is said to deliver
a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. Cabinet depths are kept to under 3-inches.
This year’s models improve upon last year’s by offering 120
backlight zones on the 42- and 55-inch models, up from 80 zones last year, and
160 zones on the 47-inch unit, up from 120.
The sets also feature a thin cabinet design measuring 3 inches.
The 32- and 37-inch models offer the company’s Razor LED edge-lighting
technology with local dimming affording a 2-inch cabinet depth and a 1,000,000:1
contrast ratio. The units also offer 120Hz refresh rates.
All of the new XVT models also include the company’s widget-based
Vizio Internet Apps (VIA) internet access system with built-in WiFi capability and
a QWERTY keyboard remote. The VIA system provides access to a number of service
partners including Netflix and Pandora.
Vizio plans to offer its high-end XVT Pro models with built-in 3D
capability in the fourth quarter.
