ViewSonic Issues G-Tablet Fix

Walnut, Calif. – ViewSonic has
begun offering a user-interface upgrade to its

G-Tablet 10.1-inch Android
2.2 Tablet

because of consumer returns.

The company’s “software partner
is releasing an upgrade that will address customer concerns,” said Jeff Volpe,
VP/GM of ViewSonic Americas. “Along with great performance improvements,
customers will have the flexibility to use both a standard Android interface as
well as a user-customizable interface which has been significantly enhanced
since the product launch.”

Current G-Tablet owners will
automatically receive the upgrade through their Wi-Fi connection by Friday, Dec.
24.

Meantime, units currently in
stock at retailers can be returned by the retailers, and their software will be
updated, a spokesperson said. Nonetheless, with the over-the-air update, the
new software update will be automatically available for device updating once
the device is connected to the web, she continued.

Starting as early as next week,
ViewSonic will ship new G Tablets with the upgraded interface. “Units are in
stock and ready to be updated at the distribution center, so turn around will
be very quick,” the spokesperson said.
