Vievu2 Wearable Security Cam Bows

Seattle – Wearable video camera resource Vievu introduced Monday a wearable Wi-Fi video camera designed for professional and prosumer security applications.

The Vievu2 ($349 suggested retail) features a rugged and compact design and can be worn on a belt, lapel, pocket or other places where bulkier cameras don’t fit, the company said.

Vievu2 offers on-the-go security for professional and work environments including private security, insurance, HR/employee relations, facilities management, transportation, inspection and service, plant and manufacturing among others.

Its use is seen as a deterrent to workplace theft, while providing accountability in liability claims.

Vievu, which will be showcasing its products at International CES 2014 at booth 80228, specializes in wearable video cameras for police and private security applications, and has 80 percent market share in that area. Its cameras are used by more than 3,100 agencies in 15 countries, the company said.

The new Vievu2 offers prosumers access to the same military-grade technology police and high-end security personnel use.

It is rated for waterproof operation (IPX5), and is encased in military-grade anodized-aluminum housing for durability.

The Vievu2 also features a “one-switch” design for quick activation and can be triggered while wearing gloves.

The LED indicator displays the status of the camera and the square design allows for simple clip rotation for easy attachment to clothing.

“At Vievu, our sole focus is to make the best body worn video cameras on the market. The Vievu2 is our prosumer version designed to exceptional standards using the best seamless technology to manage and share your videos,” said Steve Ward, Vievu CEO and founder.

The Vievu2 records in HD (1,280 by 720) and SD (640 by 480) modes, with a 95-degree field of view, 90 minutes of recording time, 16GB of onboard storage and live video streaming capability via 802.11g/n wireless.

A Vievu smart app pairs the camera to smartphones for storage and view-finding, and enables streaming of live video to Android or any Wi-Fi network. Videos also can be uploaded to YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Dropbox, email and text accounts.

A built-in editor is included for quick trimming of videos or to add titles and filters.
