Verizon iPhone Rate Plans, Distribution Details Outlined

Basking Ridge, N.J. – Verizon Wireless will apply its standard voice and data rate plans to its CDMA iPhone 4, the carrier announced.

The carrier and Apple also provided more details about where
consumers can preorder the phone before its appearance Feb. 10 in stores, and
Best Buy confirmed that it will offer the CDMA iPhone in Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile specialty stores across the country
beginning Feb. 10, the same day that the device is available in Apple and
Verizon-owned stores.

In announcing rate plans for the iPhone, Verizon said subscribers
can opt for Nationwide Talk plans starting at $39.99 for 450 minutes or
Nationwide Talk and Text plans starting at $59.99 and including unlimited text,
picture and video messaging. Subscribers must also subscribe to the carrier’s
unlimited Email and Web data plan at $29.99 per month.

The carrier’s standard 3G Mobile Hotspot plan of $20 per month
for 2GB of data also applies to the CDMA iPhone 4. Unlike AT&T’s iPhone 4, Verizon’s
version offers a 3G Mobile Hotspot feature that connects up to five Wi-Fi
devices to the Internet via Verizon’s 3G data network.

As
previously announced
, Verizon’s iPhone 4 is priced like AT&T’s version
at $199 for the 16GB version and $299 for the 32GB version with a new two-year
contract.

In offering up new distribution details, Verizon said the phone will
be available for online preordering by existing Verizon subscribers beginning 3:00
a.m. EST on Feb. 3. The company previously said preorders would be
available to its subscribers on Feb. 3 but hadn’t mentioned the time or that
two sites would offer it for preorder: www.verizonwireless.com/iphone
and Apple’s online www.apple.com store.

Verizon said it set aside a limited quantity of iPhone 4
smartphones solely for existing customers who preorder through its site.
Orders will arrive on or before Feb. 10, the carrier said.

For its part, Apple said preorders from Verizon subscribers would
be fulfilled on a “first come, first served basis” because of expected high
demand.

Apple also announced that beginning Feb. 9, any consumer would be
able to order the Verizon iPhone through the Apple Store (www.apple.com)
for delivery or reserved for in-store pick up beginning Feb. 10.

Beginning at 7:00 a.m. local time on Feb. 10, the phone will be
available to all consumers at Apple’s retail stores and more than 2,000 Verizon
Wireless Communication Stores nationwide as well as one the Apple and Verizon
websites.

Walmart previously confirmed to TWICE that it will offer the CDMA
iPhone on that day in select stores. The phone will also be available at a later
date through Verizon-authorized agents nationwide, a Verizon spokesperson said.
