V-Moda Intros Crowd- Sourced Crossfades

LOS ANGELES – V-Moda formally introduced a new flagship to its top-of-line Crossfade series headphones after months of online input from consumers and audiophiles.

The Crossfade M-100 features 50mm dual-diaphragm drivers, a proprietary Cliqfold folding hinge, dual inputs with V-Cork seals, and two Kevlar-reinforced cables with 45-degree strain relief on the 24-karat gold plugs. One is a remastered universal Speak- Easy microphone cable for smartphone use and the other is an all-new SharePlay cable which allows multiple users to share music and media without extra adapters.

An 0.25-inch adapter is included for professional equipment and mixers.

The M-100’s construction is metal around a steel frame with a SteelFlex headband and replaceable Bliss Ergosoft memory-foam ear cushions.

They can be customized with interchangeable metal shields in 13 colors and 13 logo images. V-Moda also offers a laser engraving service that allows users to design their own shields with personalized text.

V-Moda said the M-100 “was designed by and for mobile music enthusiasts” with the input of hundreds of audiophiles, journalists, producers and DJs worldwide after plans for the headphones first leaked online. Rather than retracting the information, the company embraced it and openly interacted on forums and social networks, turning the development process into a crowdsourced one.

The Crossfade M-100 will ship during the holiday selling season for $300 in Matte Black Metal, Shadow or White Silver, at Amazon.com and select retailers worldwide.

For $310, consumers can now pre-order on v-moda.com and receive an extra set of personalized shields and a set of Faders VIP Tuned earplugs, for a limited time.
