Denver – Ultimate Electronics said its sales for November through December spiked 27 percent to $162 million, while same store sales rose 3 percent for the period.
According to CEO Ed McEntire, the comp gains represent a flat November and a 5 percent hike in December, while the net reflects the addition of five new stores in St. Louis and Phoenix.
President/COO Dave Workman noted that digital products, particularly DVD and DTV, led the sales surge, as did a resurgence in audio fueled by DVD home theater systems. He added that a 19 percent rise in the average selling price of all TVs to over $1,100 compared to the year-ago period was aided by the sale of 223 plasma sets at an average selling price of over $8,000.
