Ultimate Enters Pacific Northwest

Tigard, Ore. – Ultimate Electronics has entered the Pacific
Northwest with a new showroom here near Portland, raising the store count to
46.

The CE and appliance chain, which was brought out of bankruptcy
in 2005 by investor Mark Wattles, has quietly added some 14 stores in 10 new
states this year, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and
Pennsylvania.

Portland is familiar turf for Wattles, who founded the now-defunct
Hollywood Video chain in nearby Wilsonville, Ore.

The Tigard store, located in a former Levitz, heralded its
opening last week with a “Doorbuster Preview Night” sale that included a
42-inch Panasonic plasma TV for $400 and a JVC HD-camcorder for $397, The
Oregonian reported.

Wattles told the newspaper that he plans to open another two to
four stores in the state.
