Two New Fox Releases Fete Black Music Month On DVD

Fox Home Entertainment is promoting June as “Black Music Month” with the release of two DVD titles connected to the theme.

Fox said it will release Soul Food and Waiting To Exhale, both of which did well at the box office and in recent VHS tape releases, in the high-resolution video and sound DVD format on June 1. Each title will be priced at a $29.98 suggested retail. Fox’s pre-book order date is May 12.

Soul Food features Vanessa Williams, Vivica Fox, Nia Long and Michael Beach in a story about family values and down-home atmosphere.

Told through the eyes of Mother Joe’s grandson, Ahmad (Brandon Hammond), Soul Food offers love and laughs in a family, despite the usual family rivalries simmering between his mom Maxine and her sisters Teri and Bird. But when the serious bickering starts to tear the family apart, the good times suddenly stop, leaving Ahmad to get everyone back together again.

The film produced a top-selling soundtrack CD and is encoded on disc in the widescreen 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital surround sound.

Waiting To Exhale features Whitney Houston and Angela Bassett in a funny and touching film about four women who find strength through their rare and special friendship as they search for “The Real Thing” — true love. The title produced a hit song, Exhale (Shoop Shoop). The disc is encoded with the widescreen 1.85:1 aspect ratio and Dolby Digital surround sound.
