Samsung Electronics has appointed president Boo-keun Yoon and president J.K. Shin as CEOs of their respective business units. Adding these two CEOs gives Samsung Electronics three. With the move, vice chairman Oh-Hyun Kwon will retain his position of CEO and chairman. He will continue to oversee Samsung Electronics’ components business … Dick Wallace, BrandsMart USA’s chief marketing and merchandising officer is stepping down April 12. A 24-year veteran of the chain, Wallace had contended with health issues in recent years. Wallace said he plans to return to school, spend more time with his family and focus on his health. Wallace will be succeeded as chief merchandising officer by longtime appliance merchandising senior VP Randy Johnson, while his CE merchandising duties will be handled by CE merchandising VP Angus Bryan, who has been promoted to senior VP. Reporting to Bryan are newly appointed VPs Amanda Griffin (web merchandising), Frank Lozano and Mark De La Cruz (CE merchandising) … Andy Rubin, who led Google’s drive to create the Android OS for smartphones and tablets, has decided to “hand over the reins and start a new chapter at Google,” CEO Larry Paige announced. Paige didn’t say whether Rubin would continue in a new role at Google but said Android efforts will be taken over by Sundar Pichai, who will also continue to lead Google’s Chrome OS and Apps efforts ... George Sherman, who oversees Geek Squad as Best Buy’s services senior VP, is leaving the company after nearly four years in that role. Best Buy did not disclose his departure date or a successor, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. He joined Best Buy from The Home Depot in 2009, where he was home services senior VP for four years … Tom Gandulla, a 25-year CE veteran, has joined Parasound Products as sales director. He was most recently sales director of key accounts for Xantech and Aton and his previous experience was in sales and training at API, Monster Cable, Polk and Infinity ... Rafferty Jackson was appointed Beats Electronics’ first general counsel.
