T. Asano, president of Pioneer Electronics (USA) for the past two years, has returned to the parent company in Japan. Susumi Kotani, who had previously been senior VP of Pioneer's Car Electronics Planning & Coordination Division in the United States, has come from the parent company to succeed Asano . Claude Frank, ex-Toshiba America Consumer Products executive, named senior marketing manager for digital video products. Frank's chief focus will be the marketing of Samsung's DVD players and VCRs. He replaces Mark Knox, senior manager of digital convergence products, who has left to form his own e-commerce consulting firm . Ted Nakamichi, a 28-year veteran of the company his father, Etsuro Nakamichi, founded in 1948, has been named president of Nakamichi Japan . Jason Gastman, marketing specialist with Panasonic Home & Commercial Products, has been named product manager with Panasonic's Consumer Video Division. He will be responsible for marketing the company's hard disk recorder products . Martin D. Wilson, chief financial officer/treasurer of Smith Corona, has taken on the additional duties of president/CEO. He replaces John Bermingham, who has left the firm . Colin Fraser has joined the Interactive Merchandising Solutions sales team at MTI. He was previously national customer business manager at Revlon.

Lois Whitman, president of HWH Public Relations, will get her Hollywood break this summer. Whitman will be making a guest appearance on the HBO television series Oz. She won the one-line role during a live auction at a benefit hosted by Gianna and Chazz Palminteri for the Cooley's Anemia Foundation. BellSouth Wireless Data, one of Whitman's clients, was a major sponsor of the event.
