TWICE To Debut Portable Device Section May 22

TWICE is introducing a new section of the publication in its May 22 issue and has shifted some editorial responsibilities, effective May 1.

The new section, Portable Digital Devices, will cover the growing phenomenon of handheld entertainment devices such as MP3, iPod, cellphones of all types, portable satellite radio devices, portable media players, some portable navigation systems and handheld video game devices. Content, as it applies to cellphones and handheld devices, will also appear there.

Senior editor Joseph Palenchar will edit and provide coverage along with fellow senior editor Amy Gilroy.

With the addition of the new section, three other sections will also undergo changes:

  • Mobile Electronics is being named Car Electronics to more accurately describe the products covered;
  • Home Audio will now alternate with Custom Networking every other issue;
  • Communications will now center on VoIP, cordless handheld phones and FRS/GMRS two-way radios. This section will alternate with Digital Imaging every other issue.

Gilroy will continue to edit the Car Electronics section, and Palenchar will continue to edit the Home Audio and Custom Networking sections.

Greg Scoblete, who has been with TWICE since 2000, most recently as senior editor, becomes a contributing editor. He will continue to edit the Digital Imaging section and is now the editor of the new Communications section. Scoblete’s e-mail remains the same, [email protected], and his new phone number is (609) 601-5257.

Jeff Malester, who has ably edited the Accessories and Business News sections during the past six years, is leaving TWICE as of April 30.

John Laposky, managing editor of TWICE, will now edit the Accessories section along with Lisa Cervini, who was recently promoted to associate editor. Laposky can be reached at (646) 746-7009 or jlaposky@ reedbusiness.com. Cervini can be reached at (646) 746-6984 or [email protected].

Editor in chief Steve Smith will edit the Business News section.
