Tweeter Home Entertainment reported double-digit sales and earnings increases for its fiscal second quarter and first half.
For the three months to March 31 the Canton, Mass.-based chain reported net rose 26.4% to $1.44 million as sales of $62.2 million increased 14.1%. Through the half Tweeter reported net was up 26.4% to just under $6 million on a 15.4% revenue rise to $149 million. Same-store sales edged up just 1% in the quarter but were up 6.5% for the full period.
The same-store results exclude those of the Texas-based Home Entertainment retail chain acquired in February. Tweeter, which now has 61 outlets, also operates the Tweeter stores in New England, Bryn Mawr outlets in the Philadelphia area and HiFi Buys of Atlanta.
