Tributaries & Clarus Highlighting USB Audio Cables

LAS VEGAS — Two cable manufacturers will show off their latest category contributions during International CES this week:

Tributaries and Clarus Tributaries will showcase its Series-6 USB cable that’s meant for high-speed USB 2.0 computer audio applications. Features include heavy-gauge (26AWG) HC-OFC signal conductors for lower resistance and increased quality of signal transfer. The cable has a silver-plated “skin” that provides a lower resistance, creating a low-loss path for the delicate digital signal, Tributaries said.

Other design details include precision twisting techniques of the data conductors to minimize timing and jitter problems, and specialized polyethylene to lower dielectric losses and the resulting distortion, as well as insulate the data signal conductors.

The Series-6 cables are offered in 1-meter and 2-meter lengths for $60 and $80, respectively. They’re currently available.

Also showing cables for USB 2.0 computer applications will be Clarus. The cable is manufactured from heavy-gauge PCOCC copper, Pure Copper by the Ohno Continuous Casting. It features 20AWG power conductors to ensure there is adequate current flow to USB audio devices, said Clarus.

Silver plating minimizes skin effect, and six layers of shielding eliminates noise, it added. The cable is covered with a black and red woven jacket, available in 1-meter ($250) and 2-meter ($350) lengths.
