Toshiba's Exceria SD Cards Ratchet Up Read/Write Rates

Irvine, Calif. - Toshiba America Electronic Components today announced the launch of a line of high-performance SDXC and SDHC memory cards under a new brand name, Exceria, boasting the company's highest data-transfer rates ever.

The company claimed this to be "the world's fastest data-transfer speed for an SD memory card."

The new products will be launched in three series: Exceria Type 1 (read/write: 95MBps/90MBps), Type 2 (95MBps/60MBps) and Type HD (90MBps/30MBps). Capacities offered are: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB for Type 1; 16GB, 32GB and 64GB for Type 2; and 8GB, 16GB and 32GB for Type HD.

The HD cards will roll out in Japan, in April and May, with Type 1 cards shipping in July and Type 2 cards in August. Pricing and availability in North America will be announced at a later date.
