Irvine, Calif. – Toshiba America Electronic Components today
announced the launch of a line of high-performance SDXC and SDHC memory cards
under a new brand name, Exceria, boasting the company’s highest data-transfer
rates ever.
Exceria cards, named to reflect a combination of
“excellent” and “experience,” according to Toshiba, meet SD
Memory Card Standard Ver.3.0 UHS-1, and top out at a maximum read speed of 95
MBps and a write speed of 90MBps. The company claimed this to be “the
world’s fastest data-transfer speed for an SD memory card.”
The new products will be launched in three series: Exceria
Type 1 (read/write: 95MBps/90MBps), Type 2 (95MBps/60MBps) and Type HD
(90MBps/30MBps). Capacities offered are: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB for Type 1; 16GB,
32GB and 64GB for Type 2; and 8GB, 16GB and 32GB for Type HD.
The HD cards will roll out in Japan, in April and May, with
Type 1 cards shipping in July and Type 2 cards in August. Pricing and
availability in North America will be announced at a later date.
