Toshiba Refreshes Satellite Line

New York – Toshiba today introduced
its laptop line for the back-to-school season.

The upgraded laptops are
in the company’s L, C, P and Qosmio series and include AMD’s latest A4, A6 and
A8 accelerated processing units with on die graphics, along with a variety of
Intel chips.

Toshiba executives said
the new AMD processors are enabling the company to hit lower price points yet
deliver excellent performance.

The new P series was created by merging the old Toshiba A and M
series and now stands as the company’s premium laptop series.

The P-series units can be configured to use AMD A series of
processors or an Intel second-generation Core chip. Screen sizes include 15.6
and 17.3 inches, and come with Blu-ray and USB 3.0 along with a variety of hard
drive and memory options. The 15.6-inch display is available in 3D, as well.
Pricing starts at $629.

Toshiba also made several major changes to the Qosmio models. It
reduced the screen size from 18.4 to 17.3 inches, added a subwoofer and the new
glossy Fusion finish. It is 3D, and has a 1.2TB hard drive and Nvidia GTX560M
graphics. Depending upon configuration, pricing for the Qosmio ranges from
$1,199 to $1,899.

The Satellite L700 series has a price range of $449 to $699 and
comes in screen sizes of 13.3 to 17.3 inches and will ship in late June.

All feature Toshiba’s glossy Fusion finish and come in graphite,
white, red and brown color schemes. Optional Blu-ray drives and HDMI are
available on certain models.

The $499 L735 starts the line. It comes with both AMD dual-core
A4 or quad-core A6 APU or a second-generation Intel Core i5 processor.

The L745 carries a $449 suggested price tag and has a 14-inch
display. The step-up L755 has a slightly larger 15.6-inch screen and a $483
suggested retail price.

At the top of the L series is the L775, $579, with a 17.3-inch
screen that is targeted at the desktop replacement market.

The C series was expanded this year to include a 17.3-inch model
in addition to the currently available 15.6-inch size. Pricing starts at $379.
The models can be configured to use AMD’s C-50 and E-350 APUs. They have hard
drives up to 640GB, 4GB of DDR3 memory, two USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi and a DVD
Super Multi drive.
