Toshiba Recalls Second Batch Of Batteries

Irvine, Calif. — For the second time in less than a month, Toshiba American Information Systems is recalling Sony-made notebook computer batteries.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that about 1,400 batteries are included in this recall. All were sold with the Satellite A100, A105 and Tecra A7 laptops between Jan. 1 and April 30, 2007. The CPSC said the lithium-ion batteries can overheat and catch fire, although no cases involving these batteries were cited.

In mid-July Toshiba recalled10,000 batteries.

Consumers can call Toshiba at (800) 457-7777 or visit the firm’s Web site at www.bxinfo.toshiba.com.
