Toshiba Goes Big With 13.3-Inch Tablet

New York – Toshiba rolled out a new tablet size today, the
13.3-inch Excite 13.

The Excite 13is being positioned as a carry-about home
media-consumption device that people can easily share, said Young Bae,
Toshiba’s product marketing manager. The Excite 13 will ship in June with
suggested retails of $649 for the 32GB model and $749 for the 64GB version.

The company also introduced the Excite 10 and Excite 7.7.
With these introductions, Toshiba will retire the Thrive tablet brand, the
company said.

The Excite 13 will run Android 4.0 when shipped, and it is
powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor with GeForce graphics that include 1GB
of RAM. It features a 1,600 by 900 LED-backlit display and a four-speaker
system with SRS sound.

The Excite 13 weighs 2.2 pounds and is 0.4 inches thick.
Battery life is expected to be in the 13-hour range. There are MicroUSB and
MicroHDMI ports and a full-size SD card slot.

The 10.1-inch Excite 10 will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB
versions with prices of $449, $529 and $649, respectively.

The Excite 10 has an Autobrite LED backlit display, is 0.35 inches
thick and weighs 1.32 pounds. The tablet has the same CPU and graphics
processors as the Excite 13 and features the same ports and external card
slots.

The Excite 7.7 comes in two flavors: 16GB for $499 and $579
for 32GB. It has a 7.7-inch AMOLED display, is 0.3 inches thick and weighs in
at 13.4 ounces. It has the same processor and feature set as its larger
companion devices.
