Tokyo – Toshiba today reported it will enter the PDA market with two high-end models launching in the U.S. and Japanese markets by this fall.
Toshiba will try and grab a chunk of the exploding corporate PDA market with the GENIO e550 and e550/MD. The e550, shipping in Japan on Aug. 20, uses an Intel 206MHz Strong Arm processor and has 32MB of DRAM. The e550/MD has the same processor, but adds a 1GB Microdrive and will launch in September.
Both devices, which measure 5-inches high by 3-inches wide, use the Microsoft PocketPC operating system and come with a CompactFlash card slot.
The exact U.S. launch date was not made available, but is expected to take place during the fall.
