Toshiba Announced ‘World’s Fastest’ MicroSD Cards

Irvine, Calif. — Toshiba America Electronic Components (TAEC) announced what it called “the world’s fastest” MicroSD cards.

The UHS Speed Class 3-enabled cards are offered in 32GB and 64GB capacities. Minimum write speeds are said to be 30MBps, with a maximum read speed of 260MBps for the 64GB version and 145MBps for the 32GB card.

Maximum write speeds are 240MBps for the 64GB version, and 130MBps for the 32GB card.

The cards are especially geared toward users who want to record 4K video, TAEC said.

The cards comply with the UHS-II interface standard, the ultra-high-speed serial bus interface defined in the SD Memory Card Standard Ver. 4.20.

Sample shipments are available although pricing for the cards wasn’t provided.
