Lexington, Ky. – Industry veteran Bob Brown, former longtime president/CEO of Lenbrook America, has been appointed to Thiel Audio’s board and has been tapped as Thiel’s interim COO.
His appointment follows Thiel’s purchase late last year by a Nashville-based private-equity firm that includes Thiel’s new CEO Bill Thomas, an audio aficionado who hadn’t been involved previously in the consumer electronics industry.
At Thiel, Brown will provide the company’s new owners “with a complete analysis of the existing operation, including manufacturing, domestic and international sales as well as marketing,” the company said.
Brown said his mission is to “provide the guidance and market awareness necessary to maximize opportunities going forward.” The company must “adapt Thiel’s domestic and international sales processes as well as its product development direction to contemporary business ideals,” Brown continued, but the company “will do so very mindful of the brand’s legacy.” The new group of owners “seems acutely aware of this necessity and appreciative of the pitfalls that have characterized other investor-led high-end audio acquisitions,” Brown said.
As president/ CEO of Lenbrook America, Brown distributed NAD Electronics and PSB Speakers. Brown has also been president/COO of Tivoli Audio and currently is Zvox Audio the international sales manager, a position he maintains.
Thiel manufactures 10 products ranging in price from $1,090 each to $14,700 per pair.
