Beaverton, Ore. — Telefield, which is licensing the RCA brand for a line of business telephones, announced on Tuesday its VoIP system is now available in more than 2,500 office-supply stores.

The RCA Digital Business Phone Service is designed for the truly small businesses in the small- to medium-business (SMB) market, Scott Dunmire, Telefield product development director, told TWICE, such as dentist offices and dry cleaners. The sweet spot for the number of employees using the phone tops out at around 15 to 20 people.

“What makes these businesses unique is what all of these have in common —they don’t have telecom managers and IT people that larger businesses have that they can turn to figure out what they need, how to buy it [and] how to manage it … What they’re focused on is, ‘How does my phone system let me get back to doing the things that are my business?’ ”

The setup process is designed to be extremely simple, from purchasing a one-box solution at Staples or Office Depot, to setting it up and getting it online within a matter of minutes.

Brian Crotty, COO of Broadview Networks, the network that will power the Cloud-based system, called it “an office in a box.”

Users will be charged $24.95 per month per line. Features include call forwarding, voicemail forwarding, digital receptionist, conference calling, hold music and three-digit extensions.

The RCA telephones are offered in several configurations, including corded and cordless models with handset extensions. All have full-duplex speakerphone capability.

The IP160S cordless phone has a 2-inch color LCD display and can be expanded to up to six handsets. Suggested retail is $149. The IP060S ($89.99) can be configured as a cordless extension to the IP160S.

The IP120S ($129) is a corded desktop phone with 10 one-touch dialing presets and the ability to handle multiple lines, while the IP110S ($119) corded desktop phone can handle two lines.
