TCL Launching ‘Iron Man 3’ Promotions For Smartphone

Irvine, Calif. — TCL Communication, the Chinese company that markets Alcatel One Touch cellphones in the U.S., is teaming up the makers of the new “Iron Man 3” movie and with RadioShack to step up awareness of the company’s Alcatel One Touch cellphone brand.

TCL’s high-end One Touch Idol smartphone, said to the lightest available, will put in an appearance in the movie, which debuts May 3. Movie fans will get a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to attend the movie’s red carpet premiere in Hollywood on April 24 by signing up on a TCL Facebook page at Fcebook.com/AlcatelOneTouchUSA.

TCL will also launch an exclusive “Iron Man 3” retail promotion with RadioShack centered on the existing Alcatel Authority smartphone from April 14 to May 11. Phone purchasers will get a pair of movie tickets to see “Iron Man 3” after it hits theaters.

The Idol is a very light phone weighing in at 3.88 ounces. The 7.9mm-thick phone features 4.7-inch qHD IPS display, dual-core 1GHz processor, HD-video capture and Android 4.1 OS.

“Since entering the U.S. market three years ago, the Alcatel One Touch brand has quickly grown its presence in the U.S. through partnerships with major U.S. wireless carriers and retailers,” said Nicolas Zibell, president of the Americas and Pacific for Alcatel One Touch. “Being the exclusive mobile phone partner for Marvel’s ‘Iron Man 3’ is a good example of the increased popularity of the brand’s premiere Android devices, including the One Touch Idol and Idol Ultra.”

At January’s International CES, the brand stepped up its portfolio of Alcatel One Touch smartphones and tablets for the U.S. market with the launch of Android smartphones with larger screens and faster CPUs, an expanded tablet lineup, and its first cellular-enabled tablets.
