Minneapolis – Target has confirmed that it will open in-store
Apple centers in 25 test locations this year.
According to published reports, the discounter describes the
shops as “expanded displays” of Apple products, but did not detail which
products would be included, how they would be merchandised, how the centers would
be staffed, and if they even would be located within Target’s CE departments.
Target currently carries a modest selection of iPods, iPads
and iPhones that are merchandised within dedicated in-aisle displays. It
follows Best Buy as the second national chain to open Apple-sanctioned shops
within its stores.
