Target Launching iPad Next Week

Minneapolis – Target will begin selling Apple iPads and
accessories at each of its 1,743 stores beginning Oct. 3.

The discounter will carry a range of models, including the 16GB
Wi-Fi, 32GB, 64GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+3G iPads, as well as cases, chargers, iBook
and iTunes gift cards, and other attachment-sale items.

 The launch will follow
this week’s rollout of iPad to the remaining 500 Best Buy stores that don’t
already carry the device.

“Target is very excited to offer the revolutionary iPad to our
guests nationwide,” said Target merchandising senior VP Mark Schindele. “We are
committed to providing our guests with the best products and we think iPad will
be at the top of our guests’ holiday shopping lists.”

Target and Best Buy also carry Kindle, another high-demand
handheld, and Amazon.com will extend distribution of its e-book reader to a
third retailer, Staples, later this season.
