Synnex Makes Ingram’s Murai Its Co-CEO

Fremont, Calif. — Synnex has appointed former Ingram Micro president and COO Kevin M. Murai as its co-CEO.

Synnex also named Murai to its board and has added him to its executive committee. Murai’s appointment follows a major announcement in February that Synnex will acquire New Age Electronics, a move that is expected to significantly expand its consumer electronics offerings. The deal is expected to close this month.

Murai will share the role of CEO with the Synnex’ current president and CEO Bob Huang. Huang is expected to retire in November and, upon the approval of Synnex’ board, Murai will then become the sole CEO.

“Kevin has a solid reputation and excellent history in the IT supply chain, and we welcome him to the management team and board of directors of Synnex,” said Matthew Miau, the company’s chairman. “We look forward to his leadership in driving additional shareholder value at Synnex.”

Murai spent 19 years with Ingram Micro. He was most recently its president and COO, and he also served on Ingram Micro’s board of directors.

“I am excited to join Synnex at this very key time in the history of the organization,” said Murai. “I look forward to working with Bob to further execute on the strategic vision he has set for the organization as well as working with all the Synnex team members, who are well known for their operational excellence and customer and vendor service.”

According to the company, Murai’s appointment brings Synnex’s total number of board members to eight, including five independent directors.
