San Jose, Calif. — For consumers looking for a high-end feel for their flash drives, Super Talent said it would ship a drive housed in 18-carat gold.
The 8GB drive comes with a serialized certificate of authenticity and a $599 price tag.
The drive is water resistant and offers data-transfer speeds up to 30MBps.
The unit also offers FIPS-certified AES encryption (256-bit) and can be customized with text that is laser-etched into the drive at no additional cost.
The drive is shipping now and will have limited availability.
