Chino, Calif. – Sungale said it is now preparing to ship its second generation Wi-Fi-enabled touch screen digital photo frame, which will display a host of content options including current weather forecasts by ZIP code, real time stock quotes, and RSS news feeds from Google and Yahoo, among other things.
First shown in prototype form at January’s International CES, Sungale’s ID800WT ($230 suggested retail price) also delivers a range of more customary functions such as digital slide show for photo playback, WMA music file support, AVI-format video player, alarm clock and calendar.
In addition to the aforementioned extra features the ID800WT will provide IP radio channels, Gmail alerts, local traffic conditions, a digital note pad with softkey input, access to Picasa to download images and access to YouTube videos.
The unit, which features an 800-by-600 pixel 8-inch LCD screen, includes 512MB of internal memory to store photos, a USB input, multi-format flash memory card slot, and is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi access to link to the Internet through an on premises wireless network.
The screen has 4:3 aspect ratio, which Sungale said helps to reduce image distortion, since 99 percent of digital cameras capture images with a 4:3 aspect ratio lens.
Sungale said it offers a support Web site, for downloadable software upgrades and the option to customize users’ channels.
Sungale is a prominent and experience OEM supplier with production facilities in Shenzhen, China.
Sungale is now in the process of manufacturing the ID800WT and coordinating distribution strategies with our current retail accounts, a spokesperson for the company told TWICE.
The company expects to deliver the first shipments to retailer shelves by late June early July.
A Sungale spokesperson said, “Currently, Sungale is not seeking to brand this product through OEM partners and will market this product under the Sungale brand.”
