Straight Talk Raising $1M For Kids

Miami – Straight Talk, a unit of prepaid cellular provider TracFone Wireless, is looking to raise $1 million for Make-A-Wish, the children’s charity.

Beginning Sept. 22 and continuing for the next three Saturdays, Straight Talk will donate $1 to the organization for every shopper who agrees to a demonstration of one of its Android smartphones at some 3,000 participating Walmart stores.

Straight Talk phones and plans, which piggyback the four national carriers, are sold exclusively through Walmart and on Straight Talk’s website.

Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, and has helped fulfill more than 212,000 requests since 1980.

The effort, dubbed One Minute One Million, “is helping our customers ‘feel richer’ in a different way by giving them an opportunity to enrich their communities and the lives of the families and children in them,” said TracFone president/CEO F. J. Pollak.

Straight Talk provides unlimited data, text and minutes without a contract for $45 a month. TracFone is a subsidiary of Mexican telecommunications giant América Móvil.
