Storage Products Association Formed

Santa Clara, Calif. — The industry’s top storage manufacturers announced today the formation of the Storage Products Association (SPA).

The SPA, which includes Western Digital, Seagate, Toshiba and Hitachi GST, will promote the importance of hard disk and solid state drive storage to consumers and professionals. This will be done by publishing materials on how to take advantage of the available storage technologies and by participating in industry events.

The SPA’s board of directors includes Mark Grace, marketing senior VP for HGST, a Western Digital company; Timothy Leyden, president of Western Digital Corp. subsidiary WD; Joel Hagberg, Toshiba’s marketing VP; and D. Kurt Richarz, Seagate’s executive VP worldwide sales.

The SPA made its industry debut this week at the Flash Memory Summit where it participated on the panel “Solid State Hybrid Drives Help Meet Today’s Storage Requirement.”
