Groveport, Ohio — StarTech.com has introduced a handheld device designed to help mobile Internet users to locate accessible Wi-Fi networks without having to unpack their notebook computer. The battery-powered Wi-Fi Detective, which can be recharged via a standard USB connection to a powered computer, features an LCD display that indicates wireless signal strength, associated security protocols, operating channel and SSI.
According to the manufacturer, the device can locate 802.11b and 802.11g networks.
The Wi-Fi Detective will be available in June for a suggested retail price of $74.99.
