Starpower Adding Majaps To Remodeled Flagship Store

NORTH DALLAS, TEXAS – Custom installer Starpower Home Entertainment Systems has embarked on a multimillion dollar remodel of its flagship showroom here that will double the size of its sales floor and add major appliances to its product mix.

The premium A/V and custom-install chain plans to introduce high-end white goods from KitchenAid, Miele, Sub-Zero/Wolf, Thermador, Viking, Whirlpool and other brands when the retrofit is completed next April.

The new category comes courtesy of Ed Kellum & Son, a 64-yearold majap and home-theater dealer that Starpower acquired one year ago. The rollout represents the first expansion for Kellum outside its lone Dallas-area showroom, located three doors down from one of Starpower’s four stores. Annual sales are approximately $10 million, split evenly between A/V and appliances.

As part of the flagship redesign, Starpower will also provide and install hard surface and premium flooring by Shaw and Mohawk, as well as custom products previously unavailable to the general public, through its relationship with Starfloors, an affiliated business.

In addition, Star Interior Resources, an affiliated construction business, will provide Starpower customers with complete home construction solutions.

The new 15,000-square-foot concept showroom, part of the company’s existing campus here, will also receive a four-story entry tower with LED signage that will highlight the showroom’s interactive vignettes.

Starpower said the current store will remain open during construction with minimal interruption to existing displays and services. The company expects to add 30 staffers to the location, bringing its employee count over 200.

“This latest evolution of Starpower will be unlike any store anywhere,” said CEO David Pidgeon. “In today’s economic environment, our clients are looking for real value. This new showroom delivers, becoming a ‘one-stop shop’ where our awardwinning staff will efficiently and effectively deliver and install better home solutions at competitive prices.”

Starpower chairman Daniel Pidgeon added that the new showroom “combines the finest in all of our industries [and] sorts through the challenges of making important home lifestyle choices.”

The company, which describes itself as the largest custom installer in the Dallas-Fort Worth market, has been providing premium A/V products and custom installations to well-heeled consumers, including sports and entertainment figures, since 1995. A member of the Home Entertainment Source (HES) buying group and a two-time winner of TWICE’s Excellence In Retailing Awards, Starpower operates three showrooms in Texas and one in Scottsdale, Ariz.
