Sprint: Verizon’s Is Worried

Verizon hired Ricky Gervais to make snide remarks about Sprint’s network, and Sprint said it’s a sign of how much Verizon is worried about Sprint’s improving network performance. “This is actually the first time that Verizon has attacked Sprint directly, and there has now been some back-and-forth conversation on Twitter between Sprint’s CEO and Gervais,” a Sprint spokesperson said. “For years Verizon has been the gold standard in network performance, with a lead that was far superior over other networks. That’s no longer the case,” the spokesperson continued. “Sprint’s network is vastly improved, and the gap between all four carriers is shrinking fast.

Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE Is Back

LG’s Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, recalled from service in 2015, is back and available from AT&T and Verizon. The wearable is the first Android Wear OS smart watch with cellular connectivity. It shares the same phone number as the user’s main smartphone, so users can be reached even if they’re not carrying their phone or if the phone is turned off. Wearers can use the watch to make and receive cellular voice calls, send and receive text messages, and get phone notifications. AT&T is offering the watch at $359 with two-year contract. Verizon is offering the watch at $449 with two-year contract or $499 without.

Sprint Offers Switch Guarantee

Sprint wants to take the hesitation out of switching to its network with the launch of a 30-day money-back guarantee to consumers who switch from another network. The limited-time offer, said CEO Marcelo Claure, will give consumers “the opportunity to try us out worry-free” and experience the carrier’s upgraded LTE network; what he called “the best price” on unlimited plans; and the opportunity under a current promotion, extended in February, to save 50 percent off most standard rate plans offered by their current carrier when they switch. Sprint also pays off up to $650 in fees imposed by their current carrier per line for switching.

T-Mobile’s Binge On Adds YouTube

T-Mobile expanded its Binge On video-streaming program to include Google’s YouTube, Google Play Movies and seven other services to bring the total count of participating streaming services to more than 50. Binge On lets eligible subscribers reduce the resolution of participating streaming services to DVD quality. In return, consumers stream all the video they want from the services without dipping into their LTE data buckets.
