Sprint Offers ‘GPS Shopping’

Overland Park, Kan. — Sprint is offering a GPS shopping tool that lets user input a product name or model number and view the nearest stores that carry the item.

The mobile GPS shopping service, called Slifter, is offered by GPShopper, New York and Sprint on about 23 Sprint phones.

Customers enter a keyword on their handset, product name, model number or UPC code to find a product. They can then view product availability, price and promotional information at local retailers and get directions to those locations.

Slifter allows searches for 85 million products through more than 30,000 stores.

Sprint director of wireless data applications George Ranallo said Slifter “makes everyday task like shopping easier for our customers by providing relevant information when and where they need it.”

Slifter is available now for download at $1.99 per month.
