Overland Park, Kan. – Sprint expanded its selection of 4G LTE phones with the first LTE phone that it has ever launched at $49.
The ZTE-made Android-based Sprint Force is available through the carrier’s direct and indirect channels.
The launch expands not only Sprint’s selection of Android-based LTE phones but also its LTE-phone selection in general, a spokesman said. The carrier now offers 11 Android smartphones with 4G LTE as well as the 4G LTE iPhone 5.
The carrier also offers two free older 4G LTE phones, the Galaxy Nexus and LG Mach. And at $49, Sprint offers the LTE-equipped LG Optimus G, Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE, LG Viper and Sprint Flash, “though it [Force] is the first 4G LTE smartphone priced at $49.99 at launch,” the spokesman said.
Sprint Force features Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 4-inch WVGA 480×800 touchscreen display, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera with auto-focus and LED flash, 1-megapixel front-facing camera for video chat, and 3G/4G LTE mobile hotspot capability supporting up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.
Other features include Near Field Communications (NFC), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Sprint ID, which offers packages of themed apps, widgets, ringtones and more via a single download.
The phone accesses Sprint TV and Movies, which offers more than 15 channels of live sports, live breaking news and full episodes of daytime, primetime and kids TV shows. The phone also accesses Sprint Music Plus for music downloads.
