Spencer’s TV & Appliance, a 30-year-old white and brown goods independent based here, has joined NATM Buying Corp., effective this month.
The addition of Spencer’s, a former Nationwide Marketing Group dealer, brings NATM’s roster up to 13 members and fills a key geographic gap in the group’s national footprint.
“This milestone will be very beneficial to [our] growth plans,” said Spencer’s VP Richard Biederbeck, who cited plans to add new locations to its four-unit store base in the coming months. “I appreciate the focus of NATM, which is consistent with our own for more than 30 years… [and] look forward to sharing ideas, growth and success with the staff and retailers of the NATM team.”
Biederbeck said the company is on track to surpass the $70 million sales mark this year and continue its “above industry average growth rate.”
NATM executive director Bill Trawick hinted during the group’s annual meeting last month that the organization was close to adding a Western-based dealer, and that NATM would only be interested in adding one more member after that, for a total of 14.
NATM members enjoyed cumulative sales of approximately $3 billion last year.
