Spectra To Market First Alert Electronics

Chicago — Spectra Merchandising is adding the First Alert brand to its stable of electronics brands.

The company also markets electronics under the Hello Kitty, Paul Frank, Jensen and Studebaker brands.

In January, Spectra will bring a range of First Alert indoor and outdoor electronic preparedness products to International CES. The products will include weather forecasters, various types of weather receivers including dynamo models, outdoor rugged speakers, emergency landline telephones and the like.

First Alert had a previous licensee about three years ago just for weather radios, but Spectra is now the only licensee for the First Alert brand, the company said.

BRK Brands of Aurora, Ill., has been the manufacturer of First Alert-branded home-safety products for 50 years.

“The reliability and durability of First Alert products have been trusted by consumers for decades,” said Jim Economos, Spectra’s sales and marketing VP. “Our innovative product and packaging designs will result in a strong on-shelf and online presence that is sure to create awareness and maximize sales of First Alert products.”

The products will be displayed at booth 9432.

The First Alert brand enjoys more than 90 percent consumer brand recognition, with more than 75 percent of consumers considering it a preferred brand, according to an April 2012 survey of 1,000 adults by Resolution Research & Marketing.
