SonyEricsson, Usher Get Together

New York — Grammy-winning R&B artist Usher will headline SonyEricsson’s planned worldwide Walkman music phone campaign in an excusive deal that includes title sponsorship rights for the singer’s North American tour later this year.

The partnership, which includes Usher label Sony BMG and carrier AT&T Mobility, is well-timed, the companies said, because the campaign will follow the May 27 release of Usher’s “Here I Stand” album, the follow up to his best-selling album “Confessions.”

Offerings in the campaign will include Walkman phones, access to exclusive Usher content, competitions to meet with Usher, and tickets to Usher’s planned North American tour. Additional details will be announced on May 28.

“New and exclusive content from Usher’s new album and tour on AT&T is the kind of mobile content our customers have come to expect,” said Andy Wilson, marketing VP for AT&T’s wireless operations. “This program with Sony Ericsson allows our customers to connect with Usher wherever they have their mobile phone.”

Sony BMG has worked with SonyEricsson before, said Donna Clower, Sony BMG’s strategic marketing senior VP. “This is the first time, however, that we are in synch from the launch of a campaign and across so many countries,” she added.

Sony Ericsson is also the global title sponsor of the Women’s Tennis Association, and works with the Association to promote the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour in over 80 cities during the year. For more information on Sony Ericsson visit www.sonyericsson.com/uk.
