San Diego
–
will for the first time sell activated SonyEricsson
cellphones with the announcement that the stores will offer two handsets
activated on the AT&T network. Sales begin Nov. 19.
The 44 stores previously sold only unlocked SonyEricsson phones
without activation. Other SonyEricsson models available in the stores will
continue to be sold unlocked, a spokesperson said.
The first two handsets offered with AT&T service are the C905
and W518, retailing for $179 and $49.99, respectively, after a mail-in rebate
and two-year AT&T wireless service contract, a spokesperson said. Both
models are also available through AT&T stores at those prices, a Sony
spokesperson told TWICE. Neither will be available as activated phones through
the Sony Style web site.
The Sony Ericsson C905a features an 8.1-megapixel camera with GPS with geo-tagging capabilities. The W518a music
phone features integrated Facebook application. When consumers purchase one of
the phones with a service plan, they’ll get three free accessories, compliments
