Sony Offers PSN Users ID Protection

Foster City, Calif. – Sony is attempting to alleviate PlayStation Network users’ fears about having their identity stolen through recent hacker attacks by offering free ID protection from Debix.

Sony said it will provide a free one-year subscription to Debix’s “AllClear ID Plus” identity theft-protection service to all PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States.

The service will attempt to secure personal data by monitoring users’ private information for criminal activity, while at the same time offering up to $1 million in ID theft insurance.

The videogame console maker also recently attempted to assuage aggrieved PlayStation Network users into coming back by offering a package of free software and PlayStation Plus subscriptions.

PlayStation users will have the opportunity to sign up for the special Debix service until June 18.

Sony will be sending out activation codes in upcoming notifications.
