Sony Launches Laptop Hot Spots

San Diego – Sony today introduced new Y- and Z-series Vaio
laptops, each of which can create a local wireless hot spot.

Both series now include Sony Share My Connection technology that
can give web access to up to five additional computers, said Brian Nolin,
Sony’s product manager.

The high-end Z series, $1,950 suggested retail, has a 2.4GHz
Intel Core i5 520M processor with Intel TurboBoost technology, up to 6GB of
memory, a 13.1-inch display, a 256GB solid-state drive, and Nvidia GeForce
GT330M graphics with 1GB of video RAM.

Other features include fingerprint-scanner security, noise-canceling
headphones, the Vaio Care assist software and a backlit keyboard.

The Y series, $770, has a 13.3-inch display, a 1.2GHz processor,
4GB of memory, Intel HD graphics, 500GB hard drive and Microsoft Office Starter
2010. This includes reduced functionality versions of Office and Excel.
