Sony Exec Abrams Joins Sonos

Santa Barbara, Calif. — Phil Abram, formerly VP and senior GM of Sony’s television products division, has joined Sonos as president and chief operating officer.

The new position was created to take the marketer of wireless multiroom-audio systems from the start-up phase to “the second stage,” a spokesman said. “The company is getting ready to add a variety of key new heads,” the spokesman added.

At Sony, Abram spent more than 11 years in a variety of roles, including VP of home A/V marketing. Before joining Sony, Abram held executive positions at Sharp and Eastman Kodak.

Sonos “needs strong experienced leadership to satisfy the demands of our rapidly growing customer base,” said John MacFarlane, Sonos CEO. “Phil’s leadership talent and consumer electronics background are ideally suited to leading Sonos’ next phase of global growth.”
