Sony: 4.1M PS3 Move Units Sold To Date

Tokyo –

Sony Computer
Entertainment

said Tuesday that it has already sold more than 4.1 million
units of its PlayStationMove motion controller for the PlayStation3 (PS3)
worldwide.

The milestone was reached in two months since the controller was
released in North America, Europe and Asia, and one month since its release in
Japan.

“The number not only shows clear success of the launch of the new
motion sensing controller but also indicates positive momentum going in to the
holiday season and to the year 2011,” Sony said in a statement.

PlayStation Move motion controller is a handheld wand-based
system used with the PlayStationEye camera to detect the precise movement,
angle, and position in 3D space of the user, to enable intuitive game play as
if the user were within the game itself.

PlayStation Move offers more than 30 supported/dedicated titles
for the North American region.  Some of
the most successful titles include Sports Champions, Start the Party, EyePet
Move Edition, MAG, SingStar Dance and more.

Upcoming PlayStation Move titles include the platform-defining
franchises like Killzone 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2.

Sony said more than 41.6 million PS3 systems have been sold
globally since launch almost five years ago.
