Foster City, Calif. –
Sony
Computer Entertainment America (SCEA)
said Friday it is shipping its Sony
3D Display through retailers nationwide and will officially go on sale Nov.
13.
The 24-inch 3D Display comes bundled with 3D glasses, an HDMI
cable and a copy of the 3D Blu-ray Disc game MotorStorm Apocalypse, to
help PlayStation3 game system owners
quickly set up for 3D entertainment action.
The 3D Display ($500 suggested retail) utilizes a new proprietary
technology called SimulView, in which two-player mode is enhanced by delivering
FullHD screen action to each individual player, rather than a split screen.
The display features an ultra-thin LED backlit, FullHD LCD screen,
and quad-speed frame sequential technology to present 3D images that Sony calls
“extremely realistic.”
The 1080p panel has a 240Hz refresh rate, three HD inputs (two
HDMI and one component), built-in speakers and subwoofer, and a pair of 3D glasses
($70 suggested retail when sold separately) with a rechargeable lithium-ion
battery.
