Sonus faber Gets Aggressive In Looks, Price

Berkeley, Calif. – Sonus faber is adopting a “more youthful and aggressive appearance” in its latest series of home speakers, which also bring the brand to new price points.

Six models in the Venere series, priced up to $3,498/pair for a three-way floorstanding speaker, feature double curved sides, tapered shape, and a sculpted top embellished with tempered glass. The shape delivers structural strength and controls resonances to deliver undistorted sound, but the shape also reduces visual mass and promotes versatility of room positioning, the company said.

All models are available in high-gloss black or white piano lacquer finishes.

In pricing, the Venere series ranges from $1,200/pair to $3,500/pair, while the the previous entry-level family, called the Liuto Collection, ranged in price from $2,500/pair to $5,500/pair.

“We are able to offer real Sonus faber sound at a more affordable price point,” said John-Paul Lizars, marketing director for Sumiko, which markets the brand in North America.

In North America, Sumiko also represents Audio Research, Wadia Digital, Pro-Ject Audio Systems REL Acoustics, SME, Sumiko Phono Cartridges and Okki Nokki. Sumiko is part of The Fine Sounds Group.
