Solid Holiday Sales For Tablets, Smartphones

New York – Tablets and smartphones are experiencing solid sales so far this holiday shopping season, according to Canaccord Genuity.

The firm said for November and the first part of December sales of iPad Air, mini were very strong, and it described sales as solid for the Samsung Galaxy, Amazon Kindle and Google Nexus.

Canaccord said these healthy sales will help Apple make tablet and smartphone market share gains for the fourth quarter.

iPads were available across all retailers, but there were some supply problems with the iPad mini, particularly in carrier stores. This required a wait between two days and two weeks, depending upon the location of the retailer.

The company noted that iPhone 5s sales have improved with the influx of holiday shoppers. The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 also were strong, however, the lower-tier Android models from Chinese OEMs suffered softer sales during this period.

The one firm that is failing across the board during the last quarter is Blackberry. Canaccord said U.S. Z10, Q10 and Z30 were soft at Verizon and BB7 sales were quite weak.
