San Francisco — SOL Republic furthered its partnership with Motorola on Tuesday with the launch of SOL’s first wireless headphones.
As with other SOL headphones, the drivers for the Tracks Air can be detached from the headband, enabling users to swap headbands in different colors. The Tracks Air will feature specially designed headbands and won’t be operable with SOL’s non-Air headbands.
Four colors will be available at launch — Ice White, Gunmetal, Electro Blue and Vivid Red — with more colors scheduled to be available early next year.
The Tracks Air headphones use the company’s proprietary A2 Sound Engines; SOL declined to provide further tech specs.
Features include nearfield communications (NFC) pairing, on-ear controls, built-in microphone, a detachable cable should users wish to go wired, and dual-device connectivity so users can pair to two devices at once. They have a 150-foot range and a 15-hour battery life.
They will be available early next month for a $199 suggested retail.
SOL first announced its partnership with Motorola for its Deck Bluetooth speaker in August, timed for release with the flagship Moto X.
