Calgary, Alberta — BlackLine GPS is shipping a car/person/object tracker that does not require installation and may be placed anywhere in a vehicle or in a backpack or purse.
Slightly larger than an iPod, the GPS Snitch from BlackLine can track in real time over the Internet a cellular phone or a BlackBerry. It has a motion sensor, so it can send an email or text alert when the tracked object or person begins to move and it also sends alerts if the object or person leaves a preset perimeter. The device currently sells online and through Canadian retailers and is now being offered to U.S. retailers. It carries a suggested retail of $399 plus $14.99/month for unlimited usage.
BlackLine also introduced its Blip, a free application for BlackBerry models that are GPS-enabled. It allows users to track a Snitch on their BlackBerry and also to share the whereabouts with other users.
