Skype Offers New Calling Plan

San Jose, Calif. – The eBay-owned PC VoIP company Skype introduced a new calling plan today offering unlimited U.S. and Canadian calling for an annual fee of $29.95.

The offer only covers SkypeOut minutes (calls placed from Skype out to landlines and mobiles), it does not cover SkypeIn (calls placed to Skype from landlines/mobiles), which will continue to be billed separately.

The Unlimited Calling plan is the company’s first annual subscription offering.

Users who sign up before Jan. 31 can subscribe to the new plan for $14.95 a year along with100 minutes of SkypeOut credit for making international calls and over $50 in discount coupons for purchasing Skype-certified hardware products.

Skype boasts 136 million registered users worldwide, with roughly 8 million using the service at any given moment.
