Las Vegas – SiriusXM
satellite radio plans spring availability of its second-generation universal
tuner for connection to aftermarket car audio head units available from
multiple aftermarket supplers.
The new SVC100
SiriusXM Connect Vehicle Tuner at a suggested $79.99 will deliver the expanded
channel lineup of the broadcaster’s 2.0 satellite service and continues to
offer the convenience features of its predecessor, including iTunes Tagging and
ability to pause, rewind and replay up to 30 minutes of live programming. Other
features that continue include Song Alert and Artist alert to notify users when
a favorite song or artist is playing on another channel. Game Alert notifies
users when a favoorite team from the NFL, NBA, NHL or college football and
basketball leagues are playing live onSiriusXM.
The new and
original SiriusXM universal tuner allows for a standardized one-cable
connection to head units from multiple suppliers, simplifying installation and
thus driving down the consumer’s cost of acquisition. Previously, installations
required add-on adapters for different brands of heads and multiple wiring
expanding its selection of universal-tuner-compatible head unts to five this
year from two in 2011.
